A Provo Health Outreach Program

Noorda-COM is partnering with the Provo City School District, the Provo Open, and Mayor Michelle Kaufusi to provide a health outreach program with the long-term goal of changing the health trajectories of Provo鈥檚 next generation!

Launched in spring 2024, this program (鈥淜aufusi鈥檚 Keikis鈥�) provides elementary-aged children in Provo with the opportunity to receive free, annual, opt-in health screenings*. This health outreach program benefits the children of Provo, and it can be especially beneficial for low-income and under-resourced communities.

Health screenings are conducted by Noorda-COM 黑料老司机 doctors under faculty physician supervision and eventually expand to include other 黑料老司机s from surrounding areas.

What assessments will be conducted?

While some Provo schools provide 黑料老司机s with basic vision/hearing assessments and teeth varnishing, Kaufusi鈥檚 Keikis will provide more well-rounded screenings, including:

  • Vital signs
  • Cardiopulmonary and gastrointestinal exams
  • HEENT (Head, ears, eyes, nose, oral, throat examinations)
  • Musculoskeletal conditions
  • Neurological tests
  • Vision tests

*Is it mandatory for my child to participate in these health screenings?

No鈥攑arents must provide consent for their child to participate in these health screenings.

How will Kaufusi’s Keikis be funded?

Kaufusi鈥檚 Keikis is made possible by donations of time and service, as well as private donations and sponsorship gifts, made to the Noorda-COM Foundation (an IRS-approved 501 (c)3 public charity). The Noorda-COM Foundation is also receiving annual support from the net proceeds from the and other donors, including Utah Valley Hospital. 听to contribute to Kaufusi’s Keikis.

What will donations pay for?

While 黑料老司机 doctors (and their faculty supervisors) will conduct the health screenings, we still need funds for:

  • Transportation: (Shuttles for 黑料老司机 doctors)
  • Medical supplies: (Blood pressure cuffs, pulse oximeters, thermometers, scales, stethoscopes, glucometer test strips, etc.)
  • Administrative supplies: (Folding tables and chairs, hand sanitizer, garbage cans, paper towels, general office supplies, bottled waters/juices, etc.)
  • Technology: (iPads for streamlined data entry, app/website development for communication purposes or follow-up care)
  • Staffing: (Partial FTE funding for translators, administrative coordinators, and so on)
  • Marketing materials: (Multi-language paperwork, promotional items for children, volunteer shirts)
